Operations Director of
Residential Diversity
Education Program

We are seeking an Operations Director (OD) who is organized, innovative, and a "systems thinker" – with the ability to support a cooperative community working towards our mission. The Operations Director takes on a variety of tasks and duties over the course of the season, with the primary role of assisting the Program Directors in the management of all daily camp operations. The OD will be responsible for the administration of registration procedures, all camp financial management, and supervision of nutrition and facilities staff.


Before students arrive at camp:
  • Manage camper and staff intake via our new online database and registration system
  • Create and maintain financial systems to track spending
  • Work closely with Program Directors to pre-emptively conceptualize logistical challenges and find ways to prevent or avoid them
  • Work with the Facilities Manager to create procedures for maintaining program areas
  • Work with the Registration and Food Services Monitor and Camp Woodstock kitchen staff to ensure all food allergies will be adequately accommodated

During camp:
  • Supervise the Facilities Manager and Registration and Food Services Monitor
  • Manage camp budget and maintain financial systems
  • Manage all registration and camper information in partnership with the Registration and Food Services Monitor and Residential Nurse
  • Create needed reports for Program Directors, Executive Director, and other staff
  • Develop and maintain camper group lists, bunk lists, and bunk maps
  • Work with the nurse to create group lists and develop “MBI Sheets” for each group containing information about allergies, dietary restrictions, and special needs
  • Develop relationships with students, teachers, administrators and other school support staff

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • At least two years of experience in an administrative position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office, database management, and use of the internet-based organizational tools
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Stamina to work long and rewarding hours
  • Ability and desire to ensure all students can access our unique programming
  • Ability and desire to live and work in a tight-knit, diverse community

The Operations Director will have some preseason responsibilities--all of which can be accomplished remotely. These responsibilities will be part time, ranging from 2-10 hours weekly. Compensation is depending on experience for the contract period of August 1st through November 21st. Starting August 30th, the Operations Director will work and live full-time, onsite in Woodstock, CT until November 21st.

RE•Center’s Residential Program is in Woodstock, CT and run using the site of YMCA Camp Woodstock. Camp Woodstock is a fully equipped residential camp facility nestled into the woods abutting Black Pond--making it a lovely location for our students to learn and grow.
