Key Facts About Curriculum
The Math, Science, and Language Arts curriculum was originally designed in 2007 by Lynn Gaumond from the University of Hartford Magnet School and Cheryl Kloczko, Acting Superintendent of Schools in the Torrington School District.
Director of Curriculum and Instruction consistently redesigns, evaluates, and updates the curriculum in order to assure the consistent reflection of academic standards.
RE•Center staff works in collaboration with teachers in participating schools and curriculum supervisors to meet students' academic needs.
The contents of the curriculum are based on the State of Connecticut Department of Education guidelines and in accordance with requirements for the Common Core State Standards.
The curriculum is reviewed annually by representatives from Capital Region Education Council and the Connecticut Department of Education.
Learning at RE•Center provides an experiential approach to learning in accordance with Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences.
Students experience hands-on learning which directly connects to school curriculum.
The curriculum is implemented to help reduce the achievement gap between urban and suburban schools.
